Privacy Policy
Lovetap is a messaging app for two people at a time. This policy explains what we collect, why, who helps us run the service, and how to delete your data.
What we collect
- Account details. When you sign in with your phone number, Apple or Google, our sign-in provider receives your phone number or the email address and name those services share with us.
- Profile. The display name you choose, and your phone number if you add one. Other people who have your number saved can find you by it.
- Notes. The notes you send and receive, when they were sent and read, the notes you save, and the heart and streak state of each conversation.
- Contacts, only if you allow it. When you open Contacts, the app reads phone numbers from your address book and sends them to our servers to check which of your contacts use Lovetap. The numbers are compared and then discarded; we do not store your address book. Contact names never leave your device.
- Notification token. If you allow notifications, a token that lets us send notifications to your device.
- Safety records. The people you block, and any reports you make, including a copy of a reported note.
- Technical data. Our providers process IP addresses and device information to keep sign-in secure and the service running.
What we don't do
We don't show ads, sell your data, share it with data brokers, or track you across other apps and websites. We don't use third-party analytics.
How we use it
Only to run Lovetap: to sign you in, deliver notes, help you find people you know, send notifications you've allowed, keep the service safe, and respond to reports and requests.
Who processes it for us
- Clerk handles sign-in and stores your account credentials.
- Convex hosts our database and servers, where your profile and notes are stored.
- Expo, Apple and Google deliver push notifications. Notifications say who sent you a note, never what it says.
We may also disclose information when the law requires it.
Who can see your notes
A note is visible to you and the person you sent it to. Notes are encrypted in transit but are not end-to-end encrypted, so they are stored on our servers in a form we could access. We only look at a note when it has been reported to us.
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your data while you have an account. You can delete your account at any time in the app under Profile → Delete Account. This immediately removes your profile and sign-in account, then deletes your conversations, notes, saved notes, blocks, your reports and notification tokens, normally within minutes. Deleting a conversation removes it for the other person too.
Reports other people made about you are kept after you delete your account, so that deleting an account can't be used to erase evidence of abuse.
Your choices and rights
You can turn off contacts access in your device settings at any time. You can turn notifications off in the app under Profile → Notifications, or mute one person from your conversation with them. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your data, or to object to how we use it. Email us at privacy@lovetap-app.com and we'll respond within 30 days.
Children
Lovetap is not intended for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has an account, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above, and tell you in the app if the change is significant.
